A Visit From April and Daniel

Our friends from Los Angeles came to visit Chicago last week and made a stop in Oak Park to meet Collin and go on the Frank Lloyd Wright home and studio tour.  Mommy worked with April on the T.V. show, Frasier in one of her former lives.

They got along well with Collin and didn't even mind his teething drool.

No Tubby? No Problem.

Collin's tubby is somewhere in our land of boxes (hopefully). Until we located it, he's enjoying his sink tubby times.

Oak Parking It

We choose to live in Oak Park (rather than in Chicago proper) not because it is home to the largest collection of Frank Lloyd Wright structures in the world, nor because of it is the birthplace of Ernest Hemmingway (he hated Oak Park, btw). Not even the the town's clearly unconstitutional ban on "For Sale" and "For Rent" signs attracted us to this place. No, it was the town's abundance of activities and services for children (and parents) that carried the day. Today, we took Collin to Field Park, one of the town's numerous toddler-friendly parks. Clearly, he enjoyed the outing--especially the randomly spraying fountains. T-shirt is from Kylee.

Collin in Chicago!

Collin loves looking at his reflection in the mirror. So naturally, we immediately took him to see Cloud Gate in Millennium Park (a/k/a "The Bean"). We've never seen our doodlebug smile from so many angles.

He was less impressed by the architectural boat tour...

And his favorite part of the day was being pushed around town by his Grammy...

Last Hurrah at the Beach

Zoodlebug

Motherhood once again made a hypocrite out of Mommy--she took Collin to the zoo.

Grammy was disappointed that there were no elephants at the zoo so Pops took this picture to make her feel better.

Bears: godless killing machines.

Lifeguard Duty

Last night we went to the main Cape May beach to walk the promenade. Collin took some time to survey the sites from first a lifeguard chair and then his grandfather's arms. The last two pictures are from today back at the Delaware Bay.
